Currently I am…

Currently, I am working on a Barefoot Trimming eBook, which soon you will be able to download.

The internet has made it possible for me to get questions from all over the world regarding my trimming.

I have realized, that by writing an eBook it will mean any horse owner can find out what I do and how I barefoot trim our horses.

So anyone, anywhere, (as long as I make sure this website is working properly….!) will be able to download the book immediately.

My Goal

My goal has been to explain how we trim our horses hooves in a language that anyone can bloody understand…!

The book will include what to trim, what not to trim and how I make it as easy as possible for myself…I am a girl/lady… ;)

I am not a man or a farrier. I have certainly found, it can be physically challenging, to say the least, if you do not have the right tools and things to hand.

I Would Love to be Able to…

I want to be able to help people who want to trim, and keep their horses barefoot, but are afraid of the work involved, and don’t know how on earth to go about it.

Once you know the basics, it is not hard. In fact, anyone can do this whatever age you are or sex.

Over the years I have refined my trimming and tried to make it as easy as possible for myself, and this, is what will be included in the book.

Understanding the Language

I have spent years studying how to trim and very often the material I have been reading I have had to first translate into everyday English, and then try and decipher what on earth the person actually was talking about and what they meant.

I am not a compete idiot but often, when reading some of this stuff, you can feel pretty stupid when you just cannot understand what they are talking about…!

So often, specialists in a subject talk in their own jargon, which puts people off trying anything new, because it’s all too difficult to understand.

Wow!

Recently I received this comment,”How articulate and concise you are in your article …and in language everyone, can understand.” you can imagine how much I appreciated that feedback.

Finally…

One of the challenges many horse owners find, is that they do not have a barefoot trimmer in their area who can help them.

With the eBook I aim to be able to help anyone who is in this situation anywhere in the world.

In the Meantime

If you have any questions, let me know. I will endeavour to answer them to the best of my ability and help you with keeping your horses barefoot and healthy…!

This is great, looking forward to it very much.

You are spot on about the special language used by specialists. This then makes something which could be easy to understand off-putting to the average person.

    Great
    Neil

Thank you so much Neil for your feedback. To make it easy to understand, that is my goal…!

    Hi Sarah,
I feel like I have found the Holy Grail.

Your website is exactly what I have been searching for, for a very long time.

For years I have wanted to do my own trimming, but was scared at the prospect of getting it wrong and the resulting consequences.

Now, for the first time I have been able to understand exactly what to do and what to look for in a hoof.

My horses have never been shod but they have pasture trims from the farrier.

I discovered true barefoot trimming in the past two years and understood why my horses were always sore after their pasture trim.

I found a trimmer recently but he will not be covering my area anymore, so I have decided that I can do this myself. I know I can but I am cautious.

You have given me the courage to do it, in a format that is clear and concise, yet with enough information that does not send one in an overload spin.

I will send you photos and probably ask you many questions, but I only ever want the best for my animals. They mean so much to me.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I am certainly looking forward to this eBook.

I am currently trimming my 4 horses hooves , all are barefoot and one is a problem flat-footer. I am finding it very hard work but also rewarding and fascinating.
I’ve done a great deal of research and study on the subject and on the whole, follow Pete Ramey’s advice.
Being female and of a certain mature sort of age, I need all the help I can get.

This book may be the answer to my prayers.

    Dear Linda,

I will do my best – and thank you for your feedback.

I hope it is going to help many many horse owners out there, who like yourself and trimming their own horses or are wanting to trim their horses, but would like some help.

It is challenging trimming, so I am writing down, in simple language:-

    1.) How we trim and
2.) What we do to make it easy….!

Carole – Thank you. Comments like yours, make my day.

I congratulate you, for your honesty, and I know you can do it. It is a challenge, and it is not easy at the beginning, but once you have mastered it, it will have been worthwhile, I promise.

Yes, keep us posted about the eBook.

I live in West Chester, PA USA and came upon your blog a few months back.

I part lease a horse here and while I don’t make the decisions about his feet I find the barefoot concept very interesting and almost obvious in the sense it makes.

I was lucky to go to a workshop on Holistic Hoof Care with a woman that had a position as a traditional farrier with a prestigious institution (New Bolton Center) not far from where I live.

After 10 or so years she began to research/practice barefoot trimming. I really find the whole subject fascinating and wonder how and why we horse people as a whole, have not embraced this concept and practice sooner!

I guess there are a lot of farriers out there that have been doing things a certain way for years.

Perhaps their resistance to change and/or taking the time to learn and study this, has been a factor in the promotion, if you want to call it that and availability of barefoot trimming at least to folks who are getting started and/or do not have the time to do it themselves.

However just as with our holistic (dog) vet, I think if they were able to offer barefoot they would be able to educate clients and begin to attract like minded people seeking out their services.

The barn I am at has about 30 horses and just imagine if even half of them began the process of being barefoot!!!
